Why wont HMRC provide SA302s?

The 7 minute mortgage
It takes just 7 minutes to complete our secure online mortgage request form

HMRC are now running a policy to avoid having to provide SA302’s to mortgage applicants.

HMRC have a list of mortgage lenders who they understand will work from either an SA302 Tax Calculations that Tax Payers or their Accountants/Agents produce on specialist software –  HMRC staff will therefore say they will not issue SA302’s.

The list on the HMRC website is titled ‘Mortgage providers and lenders who accept a SA302 tax calculation or tax year overview’.
That title is incorrect and should read ”Mortgage providers and lenders who accept a SA302 tax calculation or tax calculation’.
Lenders will also require a matching Tax Year Overview which can be downloaded from HMRC Gateway.

What can I do if HMRC will not provide what I need?

You can download SA302s and TYO’s via HMRC Gateway if you submit your own self-assessment return online.

Your Accountant can download SA302s and TYO’s via their own software if they submit your self-assessment return online.

You can tell HMRC that your Lender insists on both SA302’s and Tax Year Overviews.
